Pots and Jugs

Pottery has always been about making jugs for water, pots for cooking or eating from, holding a candle, or just for decoration.  The salvage of ancient Mediterranean ships showed them carrying hundreds of Amphora pots, probably filled with wine from Greek vineyards for a table in Corinth or Cairo.

One of my great pleasures in life is sitting at the wheel wondering what my hands will create next.  Should the stem be nearly closed or wide open?  Should I just flatten it out into dinnerware?

Whoops -- did this clay just collapse on me in a heap?  No matter - I'll form another heap and start over.

All my ceramics are individually handmade.  Some are wheel-thrown, some hand-built from slabs.  No slip-casting mass production molds are used.  Each piece is high-fire Cone 10 stoneware or porcelain.  Functional pieces such as mugs, bowls, trays or plates are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.

Some pieces are available now.  Others may be ordered. Please include the piece name and #number.  Note that these are one-of-a-kind original art pieces.

Allow at least three months for delivery.  Include an email or postal address, and I will notify you about the firing.  Your piece will resemble the design and glaze of this photograph, but may differ slightly.
